"Thee Lift Me, and I’ll Lift Thee, and We’ll Ascend Together"

Of all the things I could have in this world, I would choose you over and over again.

Today Bryton and I celebrate our first wedding anniversary. This past year has gone by so quickly. I was looking through some of the wedding photos with my mother-in-law on Sunday night and the memories came flooding in. What an incredible day it was for us. I found the man who would take me to the temple to be sealed for eternity. And boy am I pleased with my choice!

I loved our wedding day so much. It started off with a hurricane. I freaked out. All of the places that we wanted to get our photos done were outdoors and it was bucketing down with rain and the wind was crazy. My parents walked me up to the temple and both of them had umbrellas out but they were no good. As soon as I stepped inside the temple I felt peaceful. Once the sealing was done and we were ready to come out the heavens opened, the skies were clear, and the weather was perfect. I wanted clouds (because I’m obsessed with them) and I wanted wind (because I wanted my veil to fly) and I wanted breeze (because I didn’t want to sweat in my wedding dress. And that’s exactly what the weather turn out like.

I want to share some of my favourite photos from our special day. There might be a lot… Sorry!

I love this photo ^^ My little brothers had never been inside the temple before. Weeks leading up to our wedding day they kept asking to go inside. My family weren’t able to be in our sealing, but they sat in the waiting room. I wanted them to be the first people I saw before I walked out to everyone else. It was a really special experience for me.

The highlight of the day for me (apart from the sealing and being married to my special man) was dancing with my dad. One of my good friends, Polly, sang the song Edel Weiss from The Sound of Music. It’s a special song for our family. My Papa used to sing it in Maori to my dad and my aunty when they were kids. It’s also one of my favourite songs from one of my favourite movies. She sang it so perfectly. My dad tried so hard to get out of dancing. The week before the wedding he actually hurt his ankle and ended up in hospital. He said “well, looks like we won’t be dancing” haha. Too bad, father. When we started dancing he whispered to me “are you happy?” “yes” “so am I. I’m proud of you.”
The memory of this moment still pulls a little at the heart strings. It was a moment to treasure, for sure!
