February 2015 – Highlights

The months just keep getting busier! We’re out of weddings at the moment. To be honest, I’m not sure how many more weddings I have left to go because most of my friends got married years ago haha. But this month felt like we had something on every week. I have to go through my calendar to remember exactly what I did.

I took my first trip out to Muriwai. It was a stunning view out there. The sunset was just what I loved – the dark clouds were perfect!! I’m so glad that Britney took us out there because we got to go out again during the month and I’ve planned a Mia Maids activity out there next month.

I have a group of university friends that I still keep in contact with. They are such a good bunch of friends who got me through my three years. They are a huge inspiration to me and I’m grateful to have them in my life. This month we got to catch up with one another. We went out for dinner and then ice cream. Meripa is a production assistant for Shortland Street (the biggest New Zealand television production for the last 20+ years) and is currently taking theatre acting workshops. Sela is a sports journalist for Niu FM and (just secretly) is heading over to South Korea to teach English for a year. Matt just got accepted into 2 Master’s programmes. Our friend Martha is living over in Melbourne working hard and shopping hard. I am so jealous of her! All of my friends are doing so well in their careers and lives. I am yet to figure out what I want to do and when I’m with them I feel both inadequate but inspired to work harder and be better. I’m lucky to have them in my life.

The ladies. Sela has a huge grin because I’m squeezing her bum πŸ™‚

This years Valentine’s Day was a hit! Thank you, Bryton. I’ve already written a mighty long post about it. But that was definitely a highlight. Our spontaneous activities were awesome and I enjoyed the day with my sweetheart.

We also celebrated Levi and Vinnie’s 4th birthdays. We went to the pools in Hamiton with the family and had a bbq lunch. My parents bought them some bikes which they love riding. My mum told me that they’ve just started playing league in an under 6’s team. They don’t get the concept of running within boundaries yet and they drift off while the coach is talking to them. Which is funny because I have the same problem haha. They are the cutest little boys and I love having them in our family.

Just this past week we were privileged to hear from Elder Bednar from the quorum of the twelve apostles. It was a broadcast fireside from Redoubt Rd chapel. The subject was about marriage. He had sent out a few articles for us to read prior to the fireside and it was a question and answer type evening. Anyway, throughout the night anyone in the congregation was able to ask a question and he, or his wife or another guest speaker, would answer it. This fireside was just what I needed. I learned a lot about expressing more love to my husband, being consistent in our spiritual habits, and that the priesthood is not male, it blesses everyone equally and does not discriminate against gender. He also talked about how men and women are different by divine design.
The biggest part of the night for me was when he talked about eternal families. Because of my own family situation, I was comforted to remember that that Savior’s Atonement gives us strength and things will be made right in the end.
The quote that I took away from the meeting was this:

I loved the inspiration I felt from the fireside and I am so so grateful for my husband. He is a kind man and I’m very blessed to be his wife. But I will save all the gushy love stuff for another post I have coming up.

Those are my highlights for the month! University just started this month so I don’t know how many highlights March will have for me.
